BRET HARTE, Stanislaus County — Parents of students at Bret Harte Elementary can follow district planning for the 2026–27 school year through Modesto City Schools’ Local Control and Accountability Plan Advisory Committee.

The district’s August announcement lists the next committee meeting for Tuesday, November 17, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Modesto City Schools district office, 425 Locust Street. The committee reviews student outcomes and discusses services and investments, including support for English learners, low-income students, youth in foster care, students with disabilities and other programs.

The district’s application deadline for new committee members was September 14, so the published schedule is not proof that new applications are being accepted today. Community members seeking to speak or observe should ask the district which attendance and public-comment rules apply to the November session.

What residents should know

Families should review the district’s LCAP documents, compare stated goals against measurable outcomes and bring specific questions about literacy, attendance, transportation and after-school support.
